Dispute over horses ends in stabbing at property in Azle

A man was stabbed during an unusual dispute over who owned a group of horses on a property in Azle, authorities say.

The stabbing happened Wednesday evening in the 800 block of Nation Drive, as another man who said he owns the horses was loading them up to take them from the property, northwest of Fort Worth.

That witness told Parker County deputies that he received a call from the property owner to come get his horses and personal belongings, but when he did so, the property owner began accusing him of stealing her property.

Witnesses said the unnamed property owner then began assaulting the man and another witness, until the property owner’s son arrived with a shotgun and started pointing it at various witnesses.

A struggle then began between the property owner’s son and the horse owner. The property owner’s son was stabbed multiple times during the struggle. He was taken to a Fort Worth hospital where he remains in critical condition.

No charges had been filed yet because police are still trying to locate all of the witnesses for questioning.
