Marshwood grad Troy Pappas’ condition ‘extremely critical’

“I am writing to provide factual information on Troy Pappas’s condition,” he wrote. “At this time, Troy’s condition is extremely critical and he is still with us.”

Pappas was injured at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. The 18-year-old fell down a stairwell in Parker Hall, a dormitory, from the third floor to the ground level.

According to Mehlhorn, Pappas “incurred fractures of his skull and vertebrae” and is currently in an induced coma.

Pappas is on the Bates football team, and his studies focus on math and science. According to his facebook page, he is taking pre-medical school studies.

At Marshwood, he was an honor student and graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. He was captain of the football team and was also on the basketball and baseball teams.
