Make the Change: Five Reasons to Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle Today At McCullough Family Chiropractic, it’s our goal to help you achieve a healthy lifestyle. And many of our blog entries and articles feature tips and ideas to help you work towards a healthier lifestyle.

But let’s be honest – kicking bad habits and establishing healthy ones is difficult. So if you want to get healthy but have found it really, really hard… you aren’t alone.

As with most things in life, it usually comes down to motivation. If you want something bad enough, you’ll usually find a way to get it. With that in mind, below are five reasons why working towards a healthy lifestyle is more than worth it:

1) Adopt a healthy lifestyle to minimize chances of heart disease, diabetes, and other conditions. Study after study has shown that a wide variety of the most common ailments experienced here in America, such as heart disease and diabetes, are largely caused by poor eating habits and a lack of exercise. Eating right and exercising dramatically reduces your chances of contracting these conditions and many more.

2) Adopt a healthy lifestyle so you can stay active. Everyone likes to be active—whether that means sports, hobbies, or just getting out and walking around your neighborhood. Unfortunately, an unhealthy lifestyle can make it difficult to stay active, particularly as you age. Eating right, exercising, and pursuing a healthy lifestyle will make it possible for you to do the things you enjoy.

3) Adopt a healthy lifestyle for your kids… and grandkids. The habits that your kids develop, especially as it relates to eating, will impact them as adults. Help them to develop good habits now, if they’re still young. If your children are grown, a healthy lifestyle will ensure that you’re around and able to enjoy time together for a good long time!

4) Adopt a healthy lifestyle to experience less stress. If you are constantly feeling tired, stressed, and just “off”, a lifestyle change may help. Eating right, exercising, stretching, and adopting healthy habits will impact your mind and your mood, not just your body.  A healthy lifestyle allows you to sleep better, think better, and feel better. It allows you to keep things in perspective, experience less stress, and generally enjoy life more easily.

5) Adopt a healthy lifestyle so that your body gets the fuel it was designed for. Your body is a truly amazing machine. But just like a cutting edge race car, it requires a specific type of fuel. You wouldn’t fill up your car with the wrong fuel—and you shouldn’t fuel your body with the wrong inputs, either. Adopting a healthy diet ensures that your body is getting the fuel that it needs in order to achieve top performance. Give your body the fuel it demands!
