Never Enough Time to Workout? Try Shape-Up Shortcuts! Review + Giveaway If there were ever such a thing as perfect timing, I would say this book is it…for so many reasons. I had recently come to the conclusion for myself that getting back into the same gym routine I had pre-baby would be nearly impossible.  It’s simple, really. I don’t have the same amount of time to devote to an hour-plus of cardio and then a half-hour to weights. Mommy-hood calls (and wife-hood, work, sleeping, eating, cleaning, oh, and don’t forget drying your hair)!

Shape-Up Shortcuts: Score A Hotter, Healthier Body in Half the Time tackles all of these things right out of the gate. It’s not “time (or lack of it)” that keeps you from achieving your fitness goals, “it’s your mentality”. Jen Ator is quick to point out that she’s not judging you or your mentality. She’s not calling you lazy and saying you lack motivation or the knowledge. She’s just offering a way to manipulate your mindset, and manipulation can be a very powerful thing.

Quit thinking of shortcuts as negative. They’re time-sensitive. Definitively, they are an accelerated way of doing something. In the rest of our lives, we see doing something quickly and effective as a positive. This mentality should also be applied to your healthy lifestyle. Quit selling shortcuts … well, short.

The book includes “2-Second Life Changers”, “Slim Down Secrets”, and “Simple Swaps” you can easily apply to any workout or meal plan. One of my favorites: “People lost two times more fat when they trained their entire body three days a week, compared to working each muscle group only once a week.” Multi-tasking muscle groups and saving hours of my time? Yes, please!
