The StartUp Health Academy, now 35 companies strong with last week’s announcement of the 13 newest digital health and wellness startups to join the program in partnership with GE’s healthymagination, convened in The Big Apple last week for the Quarterly Healthcare Transformer Summit. The Summit was focused around collaboration and learning, access and strategy, and social connections.

There is nothing more energizing and inspiring than spending two days supercharging with a family of passionate Healthcare Transformers. Thank you to our Scholarship Partner GE’s healthymagination and our Summit Partner Merck’s Global Health Innovation Fund. The first day of the Summit kicked off with a “Welcome to the StartUp Health Academy” session for the 13 newest companies joining our program as part of GE’s Consumer Health class. The 20+ Healthcare Transformers in the new class had the opportunity to get to know one another through boomerang introductions and were introduced to the StartUp Health Academy curriculum. Additionally, the companies had an opportunity to meet with StartUp Health and GE for First Summit Deep Dives. The 30 minute meetings were structured to help the companies think through their biggest challenges and opportunities and what future success looks like.

Partner Access Day Attracts Representatives from Eight Health Tech Industry Organizations

One of the most valuable components of the Summit is Partner Access Roundtable Sessions. From 10:00 am to 5:30 pm on April 3rd, Healthcare Transformers had an opportunity to learn from and propose questions to key stakeholders in the healthcare industry. We’ve shared the biggest insight from each session:

“Cultural diversity provides perspective to help drive innovation…Without a customer there is no business.” – Beth Comstock, Chief Marketing Officer, GE

The second day of the Summit (April 4th) kicked off with an inspiring and insightful conversation with Beth Comstock. Following her talk, the remainder of the Workshop was geared around forums: moderated small group collaboratives to help peers with key challenges, topics, and issues. The three forums held during the day focused on Customer and Partners, Fundraising and Capitalization, and Team and Advisory Boards. The importance of health and wellness was sprinkled throughout the day through Massages on DemandSM courtesy of Samer Hamadeh’s company Zeel and a Greatist Power Stretch led by Derek Flanzraich.
