Hundreds receive health check-ups at Ooredoo Health Day

Hundreds of Ooredoo employees have received free health checks and advice at Ooredoo’s Health Day, in an effort to reduce health risks and encourage healthy lifestyles.

Following the World Health Organisation’s World Health Day, Ooredoo and Ooredoo Qatar held their own Health Day for staff under the theme “Enriching People’s Lives,” at Ooredoo Tower in West Bay on 25 April.

Ooredoo staff received free health check-ups in separate male and female areas, with medical professionals checking for high blood pressure, which increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure. Staff also received readings on blood sugar to check for diabetes; BMI (Body Mass Index) to determine body fat; and height and weight.

Providing regular health check-ups for employees is part of Ooredoo’s Human Resources strategy, which aims to support a healthy and productive environment for all staff. Supporting health lifestyles is one of the main goals of Ooredoo’s innovative corporate social responsibility strategy “For Qatar – Hand in Hand.” As one of the country’s largest employers, Ooredoo is able to reach out to a large number of people, who in turn can tell their friends and family about the benefits of living healthy lifestyles.

Ooredoo staff also had the opportunity to learn about the role that healthcare, sports and nutrition play in healthy lifestyles thanks to promotional material from dozens of exhibitors hosted at different offices for Ooredoo.

Exhibitors included Hamad Medical Corporation, insurance company SEIB, healthy living mentorship organisation The Gift of Health, International Academy for Intercultural Development (IAID), fresh produce delivery service The Green Box, health coaching team Art of Abundant Living, yoga organisation Yogasha, and The St. Regis Doha.

Presenting the opening speech was Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari, Chief Corporate Services Officer, Ooredoo Qatar. Mohanna Al Nuaimi, Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Ooredoo, explained to the audience how Ooredoo promotes healthy living and personal care, and enriches people’s lives; and also gave tips for employees on finding an ideal work-life balance.

In addition, Buthani Al Ansari, Senior Director, Human Resources, Ooredoo Qatar, gave a keynote speech on Ooredoo’s effective health-related activities. Staff also benefitted from health sessions including Hamad Medical Corporation presenting on the five ways to save a life, the Gift of Health on exercising in the workplace, and the International Academy for Intercultural Development on a healthy diet for an active lifestyle. Ooredoo also held a draw with several winners receiving prizes.
