Tigard Health Fair offers family-friendly activities aimed at fitness and safety

Winston Churchill said, “Healthy citizens are the greatest asset any country can have.” Organizers of the Tigard Health Fair are ready to prove it’s the greatest asset Tigard has, too.

Make a healthy choice to visit Tigard High School between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday for the annual health fair. It’s the fifth year high school students have teamed up with adult supervisors from Tigard Turns the Tide and club STUDD (Stop Tigard Underage Drinking and Drug Use). The event is family-focused and free.

Dress for activity and participate in an obstacle course, join a 3-on-3-basketball tournament or bounce into inflated houses and carnival games. The fair is between the school commons and gymnasium at 9000 S.W. Durham Road. Face painters, balloon artists and other entertainers will join community vendors and businesses in educating guests about a achieving a healthier and active lifestyle for a stronger Tigard.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue will give tours through a mobile firehouse and offer safety tips and training. Check into the Teddy Bear Hospital and learn about healthy habits to prevent long-term stays.

Organizers say the “health” fair is all about Helping Everyone Achieve Long-Term Health.
