Barnabas Health Institute for Preventon is holding two sessions of an education program that teaches parents and guardians to identify and address the needs of children growing up between two homes.

High conflict divorce or separation increases the stress and anxiety typically experienced by children that can place them at risk for behavior problems, depression, delinquency, substance use, teen pregnancy, school failure and dropout, and suicide.

In this course, parents gain tools to manage their conflict effectively and learn how to avoid putting their children in the middle of their personal, social and financial issues.

Parents who participate in “Children in Between” often experience an increase in cooperation and support from the other parent, a decrease in stress experienced by their children, a decrease in their child’s exposure to parental conflict, and an increase in parental communication.

You must register and pay right away, as space is limited. The sessions are Wednesdays Oct. 17 and 24, 6 – 8 pm.The cost is $ 75 per person and participants must attend both sessions at The Center for Kids and Family, 591 Lakehurst Road in Toms River.
